How to setup a call centre in India

When your business is flourishing and there are a lot of customers, time has probably come for outsourcing your callers. Why?...you may ask. The reason behind this is the fact that when there are a huge number of callers and only your usual staff to handle them, some of your callers will be lost and customers maybe kept waiting. This would mean a poor customer service. So before this happens, outsource your calls. India is becoming one of the most popular destinations for outsourcing, because it has got good infrastructure and reliable work force with a very reasonable cost.

Coming to India requires an Indian visa, mandatorily. Indian Visa can be availed stating the real reason of your visiting India, and this purpose cannot be altered once you are allotted a Visa. So, for conducting or coming to India for the purpose of business you will need an India Business Visa, the validity of Indian Business Visa can extend to the maximum of 10 years from 6 months. Indian Visa is also equipped with the provision of multiple entries. The maximum time an Indian Business Visa holder can spend in India per visit is also limited, up to a period of 6 months.

If you have an Indian Visa and want to set up a Call Centre, there are certain norms that you must follow. Call centers in India are all registered under the ‘Other Service Provider’. The persons having a valid India Visa must apply for the permission of the authorities needed to set up call centre, the Indian Business Visa holders should remember that the permission obtained at the beginning is valid for 20 yrs only, after which it needs to be renewed. Foreign Direct Investment up to an extent of 100 % is permitted in case of call centres.no major change in the ownership can be brought about without the prior consent of competent authorities.

The call centre may draw resources either from the Internationally Authorized Long Distance operators, or may take a local connection on lease from the many local service providers. The services related to connectivity will be administrated following certain rules and norms, flouting which may land you in deep trouble. So if you have an India Business Visa, and keen on working in India, make sure to gather enough information before starting off.

Domestic call centres, based on cases, some times are allowed a private network which is not likely if it is an international one. However, interconnectivity between two sisters call centers under same organization is permitted.

The application is to be made to the department of Telecommunication, and should be supported by important data like addresses of the spot where the IPLC will originate and terminate, the bandwidth, number of seats, a schematic layout and details of the foreign clientele. You should also keep the Memorandum and Articles drawn out, along with a little feed about the nature of the business justifying the need for outsourcing.
